Ready for a new song..meet Neverwinters New class the Bard !!

So we have waited for years and years it seems and now the wait is over...the new word is that coming by the later part of the year Neverwinter will finally have a new class...if  you like music and song this new character sounds like it be just fit you...Meet the Bard!

For players that choose the Bard class, they will become a stylish fighter who uses the power of song to enhance their allies and defeat their enemies. Weaving their way through their enemies with a variety of flashy attacks, Bards can seamlessly burst into songs burning their enemies with a blazing performance. Also, when in a more supportive role, Bards can dance around the battlefield filling the ears of their allies with rejuvenating carols and defensive minuets while preparing for the final curtain call.

Neverwinter players who choose the Bard class can become daring heroes who possess the ability to weave magic into their swords and use music to inspire allies, manipulate minds and even heal wounds. Bards dress to impress, carry an instrument — like a trusty lute — for performances and never leave the tavern without a rapier or cutlass at their hip. With the ability to be Songblades and Minstrels (the two Paragon Paths for the class) no two Bards will be exactly alike, as the class will offer one of the largest selection of spells and playstyles Neverwinter has to offer.

Songblades: Stylish swashbucklers who are as charming as they are deadly, that can dispatch their foes in style with swordplay, magic and music. This path is for those who want to be damage dealers who are comfortable close and mid range, and who want to make use of dramatic spells and supporting songs to enhance their natural combat ability.

Minstrels: Master musicians who prefer to use the power of their instrument to support their allies from afar with songs of bardic inspiration. These healers can also use music to unleash psychic attack spells and illusions.

Regardless of the Paragon Path adventurers choose, every Bard has an arsenal of unique abilities that will make them a versatile and powerful party member!!!!

Level Cap coming to 20?

Us long time players of Neverwinter is bound to be in a shock when we hear that our now level cap is 20...we've been thru 60, 70, and 80....and now back to 20!! Let's take a look into how we got there and what the devs of Neverwinter are thinking to accomplish....

GOALS

Streamline Leveling – Get players to our newest and best content faster. Balance the progression and rewards. Make each level achieved feel rewarding.

Teach the Game – Reimagine how the game is taught. Build a linear flow that ensures players are shown important systems.

Improve Performance and Visuals – Update old assets and fix underlying technical issues.

While players needn’t do anything to prep for the changeover, it does sound like some of the old leveling adventure zones have been temporarily retired, presumably until they can be retooled for the new leveling curve. Hopefully in upcoming news we can learn more about the renovations to our old favs^_^

The zones we vaulted are:

  • Blacklake District
  • Tower District
  • Blackdagger Ruins
  • Helm's Hold
  • Pirate's Skyhold
  • Rothe Valley
  • Mount Hotenow

Along with the new leveling system Cryptic is introducing some new places for players. One of those is The Adventurer’s Guild
A place for all the greatest adventurers to meet, train, and claim their hard-earned rewards. This building is a new addition to Protector’s Enclave and will serve as a hub for leveling adventurer’s in their efforts to help the Sword Coast. The old Trade of Blades has been remodeled to serve more than just PvP. Many useful vendors have moved in to provide a variety of services, and Sergeant Knox guides all new adventurers from within the main hall. There are side rooms fitted for the needs of all kinds of adventurers. Clerics will find respite in the chapel, Wizards can peruse the mystical arts in the library, and Fighters can share stories around a roasting boar in trophy room. If you have an interest in tales from the past, the Acolytes of History have set up in the archives on the second floor, who offer lore from Neverwinter’s past. Keep an eye out for acolytes out in the field to hear more tales and perhaps help achieve things thought lost…

The Training Room

A special demiplane for adventurers to safely practice techniques and test their mettle. Players practice combat basics like Combat Advantage and Tab Mechanics here. After joining the Adventurer’s Guild, players will be able to access the Training Room with its testing functionality enabled. This will provide our dedicated build-makers and testers with a place to explore the combat systems with convenient features like no cooldowns or infinite Action Points.

Along with these new changes you will notice that system updates have been done to better explain how the game actually works. One of the major changes is they have new visuals for important Main missions. They have an updated overhead icon as well as new treatments in the journal and quest tracker and also built new visuals for Event missions to distinguish this special limited time content from regular questing.

Existing Characters

Because of the major changes to the leveling flow and level cap, existing characters are going to be set to level 20 and offered a free gear pack to get them in the right place to start on epic content. The leveling Adventures will still be available to play and we encourage everyone to play through the new tutorial missions and claim the Adventure rewards. Any characters who were last in vaulted zones will be warped to Protector’s Enclave and Sergeant Knox will offer a quest to meet with the Reward Claim Agent for the gear pack. While in the midst of doing all these things they are also going to build exchanges for old currencies that will no longer be used..so watch for those that you don't miss out!! Hopefully they will allow a great deal of allotted time to all the players, in case they don't keep a eye out for deadlines.

Preview

The best way to understand these changes is to jump onto the Preview server and try them out. I've posted a video below explaining exactly how you can do that..who knows what all these new changes will bring to Neverwinter, there are lots of opinions and questions but the game is in overhaul drive at the moment and us long time players will I know stick around to see the results, happy huntings!

Sharandar – Episode 3: The Odious Court

The Neverwinter Sharandar expansion, titled The Odious Court. Episode 3 will launch in early June on PC and will feature the epic conclusion of the Sharandar storyline, which includes a challenging battle against all three Hags as well as new heroic encounters, new bounties, new rewards, and more.
“In Episode 3: The Odious Court, adventurers travel to Dark Fey Mire to investigate the fetid swamp tainted by the mysterious dark magic of Magra Curse-Eye, the deceitful Green Hag, and her sisters from the Odious Court. With frog-like humanoids called Grungs claiming the area as their own, along with aggressive Dryads who have taken refuge within, adventurers need to restore safety to the region – all the while uncovering the role of the Odious Court. In addition to new story content, the last episode also brings exciting new features to Sharandar, including an epic battle against all three of the menacing hags, new bounties, new heroic encounters, new rewards and much more.”

This new expansion of the current New Sharandar Expansion Fury of the Feywild will be the last and complete the new series, although this won't be the last of surprises that Cryptic has for its players and the new class Bard enters the scene!

So to start this new area you will find a new NPC that's going to take you thru lots of quest fighting different enemies, there is also bountys at the Bounty Board so I'm posting a map showing where those are:

Bounty Hunt Map for the Episode 3 Zone: The Dark Fey Mire
I'll also include this in our map section for later reference.

Key Features:

The Dark Fey Mire: Explore the new Dark Fey Mire area of the Sharandar Adventure Zone. Making up the original regions of the Putrid Fen, Horrid Mire and the Upper/Lower Banks, the Dark Fey Mire is a fetid swamp still tainted by the twisted magics of Magra Curse-Eye and her sisters.

Green Hag Lair: In a last ditch effort, hags aligned with Magra Curse-Eye, the deceitful Green Hag, created a massive earthquake in the region of the Horrid Mire in an attempt to rend the region asunder and bury anyone aligned with the Iliyanbruen! To successfully save New Sharandar, will you enter the dreadful lair to defeat the Green Hag and her sisters --and uncover the mystery of the Odious Court?

New Bounties: As the threat of the hags grows, more of their foul champions are brought forth. The Iliyanbruen elves of New Sharandar reward those adventurers brave enough to defeat these threats and claim the bounties.

New Heroic Encounters: The new Dark Fey Mire area has new, challenging Heroic Encounters (including additional Major and Minor HeroicEncounters).

I for one have definitely enjoyed the new sharandar as I look forward to seeing other places in Neverwinter revamped..but thats a topic for a upcoming blog, happys hunting xd

WINTER FEST IS UPON US!!!

The stars are aligned for the Zenith of the Winter Festival!

The festival starts on Thursday, December 17 at 10am PT (19:00 CET)

The festival comes to an end on Thursday, January 7 at 10am PT (19:00 CET)

Hey All,

The Winterfest event is going live this week (Dec 17 after Maintenance). This is of course one of the big three events for farming loot. If you understand how to farm the event you can make it rain: mounts, companions, and even Gondhammer. The next mod is going to make major changes to a lot of things including companions. Several of the companions people have been talking about running in the new mod drop like rain during Winter Fest if you understand how to farm the event. Here is a guide on the event. https://blog.nwo-uncensored.com/winter-festival-guide/ <----Old site not maintained, but guide is still up there.

Starlight parcels and Bag Key points

1. Get you starlight parcel every day on every alt (there is a minimum character lvl to get starlight parcels, but its pretty low I want to say lvl 20 but it might be lvl 30)

2. Hoard your starlight parcels for the end of the event. DONT Open the Starlight Parcels to the last couple days of Winter Fest. (REALLY REALLY IMPORTANT if your going to optimize your returns from this event)

3. Starlight Bags drop from simiril gift parties. Open starlight bags to increase your reward tier per character (top tier rewards are open after 20 starlight bags are opened. Some people have speculated that there is another tier beyond 20 that the Devs never mentioned as drops appear to get better somewhere after 100)

4. Once you are at the top reward tier from opening Starlight bags you can then open Starlight Parcels. (starlight bags and starlight parcels are different things but both count towards increasing your gift count. Simiril Gifts do not affect your gift counts but can drop Starlight Bags that will affect your gift count when opened)

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. Starlight parcels and bags both count towards increasing your reward tier, BUT there is an important reason to open the starlight bags first. Everything in the starlight bags is bound. Almost nothing in the starlight parcels are bound. 2. Starlight parcels are available one per day per character so if you have 10 characters and you get the parcels every day for the 22 days of the event you will net 220 starlight parcels. 3. Reward tiers are on a per character basis, so just because one of your characters has reached top reward tier does not mean the others have. 4. Starlight bags drop from gifts of simiril. People form parties to share gifts of simiril. There are gift scammers in game so its best to run gift parties with people in guild/alliance. 6. There are daily free gifts you need to log in to get during the event. 7. A lot of refinement points can be gained from the Lumens that drop during simiril gift parties 8. Many of the companions people are talking about using with the changes in the new mod drop like rain during this event. Other companins and mounts are available
9. With the introduction of the new profession in 2018, Simril Lightcrafting has been removed as a profession. Players can locate Yimril Starheart, a contact in the fishing area of Twilight Tor, that will perform the old lightcrafting tasks for the same (or less) material cost.

CURRIENCIES
[Star of Fortune]: reward from Omens of the Stars daily quest, and during the Zenith from the Tarmalune Trade Bar store
[Light of Simril]: reward from quests, contests, and Sword Coast Adventures, also looted occasionally from enemies and skill nodes throughout the game, also contained in [Shower of Lights].
[Ring of Lights]: reward from Twilight Run contest and Sword Coast Adventures
[Winterkill Emblem]: reward from "Demons on Ice" contest and Sword Coast Adventures
[Flake of Blacklead]: reward from "Demons on Ice" contest, Simril Lightcrafting task "Open [Sickly Marimo]", completing skirmishes in the Underdark, completing Demogorgon or Epic Demogorgon, completing Demonic Heroic Encounters

Neverwinter: Avernus Releases on PC June 30

The release date for Neverwinter’s next big update has been revealed, and players will be able to journey through hell when Avernus launches June 30 on PC.

Players will be able to continue their adventure by exploring the first layer of the nine hells. There is a mystery surround the Archdevil Zariel that players will unravel with the help of Lulu the holyphant. This new update will bring a new Adventure Zone to Neverwinter, a new end-game Trial, and class balancing.

Along with this new mod comes lots of changes!! One being class balance and scaling changes, while the primary goal was to review the paragon paths focused on damage and provide at least one competitive alternative for each class. However if your a hellbringer warlock or Dreadnought Fighter..you got quite a bit more attention than other classes to bring you up to scale.

The Hellbringer received magnitude increases to most of their powers as well as updates to their feats. Deal double damage on the first hit of Soul Scorch with Double Scorch or quickly stack Soul Investiture with the Power of the Nine Hells, which allows more powers to conjure Soul Puppets. Infernal Spheres should now be more stable but will also increase damage while active. Activating the Infernal Spheres again unleashes a powerful single-target attack or a multi-target assault, splitting the damage against multiple foes.

The Dreadnought Fighter also comes prepared to storm the trenches of Avernus with magnitude increases to most of their powers. The Dreadnought continues to be a steady powerhouse with an onslaught of at-will attacks while weaving in strong encounter powers. With the feat Weight of Vengeance, the Dreadnought can dish out more damage for less vengeance using Anvil of Doom.

Barbarians will notice faster rage generation....the Blademaster comes prepared with magnitude adjustments to their single-target encounter powers Frenzy and Bloodletter, the latter of which is further enhanced with a shorter cooldown in the feat Bloodspiller. Brash Strike did not fit in anywhere when compared to Relentless Slash, so it received shorter cast times to make it better suited against single targets. To better hold enemy enmity, the Sentinel received shorter cast times on some of their more threatening powers. The new feat Rage and Rally allows the Sentinel to generate more threat for the duration of Unstoppable while also restoring a portion of stamina upon exiting Unstoppable.

Cryptic still enforces that they are reviewing players comments and still making adjustments to classes as new content comes along...guess we will wait on that :P

Mod 16..Coming Soon..things to know!

Announcing Neverwinter:

 Undermountain

So we are all getting prepared for the Mod 16 of Neverwinter...everyone is making speculations..but what do we know so far? Over the next few weeks is going to be a lot of information because with this Mod its said to be the "new age" of Neverwinter ! So let's go thru a few things that we know for sure !

  1. The preview will open the first weekend of March, so you can go over and do your class testing!
  2. Life steal and Recovery is going away...what will replace it? we don't know! New terms are popping up everywhere..like accuracy, awareness I have seen on new possible enchantments!
  3. All classes will lose their first names....example - a control wizard will now be just known as a wizard...gfw though will get a whole new title as barbarian.
  4.  New level 80 Cap ! To my understanding, when the new mod is released you will enter Undermountain...be very aware! as all new gear is hidden along the way..but when you exit the mountain..your character should be level 80! Undermountain brings new equipment ranging from level 71 to 80, new seal gear, new dungeon equipment, and even new higher item level artifacts!
  5. 1 Item Level = 20 rating points
  6. Main Ratings:
Power
Critical Strike
Critical Avoidance
Combat Advantage Bonus
Awareness
Deflect
Accuracy
Armor Penetration
Defense
Utility Stats: - these stats don’t have ratings and instead receive boosts to their direct percentage
Action Point Gain
Recharge Speed
Stamina Gain
Critical Severity
Control Bonus
Control Resistance
Movement
Gold Gain
Xp Gain
Glory Gain
Companion Influence
Incoming Healing Bonus

Stats removed from Neverwinter:
AC (Armor Class)
AoE Resist
DoT Resist
Regen – players now have a set value of out of combat regen speed
Recovery...
Critical Strike is now capped at 50%.
Deflect also now caps out at 50%
Combat Advantage Bonus gets a 10% boost by default and caps out at 100%.

7. The Feats tab on the character sheet is no more and Feat Trees no longer exist. Instead, each paragon path will have 5 pairs of feats where you get to choose one of the two feats in each pair to customize your play.
8.

Each paragon path now has:
2 unique At-Wills
2 shared At-Wills
5 unique Encounters
5 shared Encounters
2 unique Dailies
2 shared Dailies
9. Paragon Paths
Paladin:
Tank
Healer

Cleric
Healer
DPS

Fighter (Guardian)
Tank
DPS

Barbarian (Great Weapon)
Tank
DPS

Warlock
Healer
DPS
Ranger, Rogue, Wizard all have two DPS paragon paths.

10.   Power points will be removed with this update.Power points will be removed with this update. Without power points, players will have full access to their powers and feats the moment they unlock them by level and will have them available at their full potency instead of having to upgrade them before they are worth slotting.

11. significant changes to tanking and healing..Life steal will be removed and new mechanics completely!

12. New boons page !!
Boons have 5 tiers. Each tier requires a minimum amount of points be invested before they can be used. With each new tier more options become available allowing you to invest points into the boons that you feel most benefit your play style or build. Current boon points they will be converted to the new universal boon point. So when this goes live you will have a pile of tasty boon points to spend along with a bunch of other great things coming with M16.

13. Classes queue as one of 2 possible options depending on build. So , if you have chosen healer over dps, you don't have to blindly go into a Que group wondering what your teammates expect you to do...you can previously que as dps..or healer...to your preference.

I, for one, am excited about these changes and expansion...if you are leveling Neverwinter now, this will give you a whole new advantage..and hopefully this will bring alot more new players! If you have been playing Neverwinter for along time..its repeating, and you more than likely can already beat, kill everything and it gets to a point of being repeating and boring...this will give a great opportunity for Cryptic to grow and give old players a more sense of purpose and actual characters to work on and improve..I think this could be one of the best Mods!! Please feel free to comment and discuss below new things you've heard or learned below..and I will update this post if new things arise...Happy Hunting !

Castle Ravenloft...ready...set..go!

Hey all, by now most adventurers have heard and ventured to the new land of Barovia..Dungeons & Dragons newest edition! I wanted to prepare a blog after I had been thru to the end of the new dungeon Castle Ravenloft! Some are my opinions and alot of helpful facts to help you prepare to defeat the evil Strahd von Zarovich in which the land is ruled and cursed.
You will begin by taking the quest from Lord Neverember in Protector's Enclave. Any level 70 can venture, upon completing the introduction all characters are given a set of Vistani gear..this gear is not BIS but if you have alts that need a little upgrading it's a fast way. The Barovia quest are not extensive and don't require the huge grinding as such back in SOMI. The area is dark..if your into wolves, vampires, zombies, witches and killing trees...so if you like that, your going to love Barovia! The campaign is quite short and as you progress you can upgrade your weekly haul of omens. If your in a hurry to get to CR (castle raventloft) then you will want to avoid doing boons until last and go straight up the route to the dungeon. Be weary, a new aspect in the game of Barovia is daylight and night! You can tell which atmosphere by the circle around your map in the upper right hand corner...daytime not to much worry, been when the night time comes and the moon is full be watchful as Night Terrors can strike out of no where and hes pretty strong. If you can defeat him he normal drops a epic Cowl of the Dead. Also in this new area are hunts, you will receive a quest and get your first wanted poster..there are star 1, 2, and 3 posters where you enter into the land of Barovia and hunt down your victim..you collect tarot cards and use them in hunts to up the stakes but higher stakes..mean higher rewards!
Barovia Hunt Map
Barovia Hunt Review

Tarot Card Review

Now on to Castle Ravenloft!

After you have reached the end of your campaign you will be able to make a new Strahd key and join your fellow adventures to attempt to defeat the evil Strahd von Zarovich. Not a easy task and your gonna need some tips and a pretty good team and set up to succeed! This castle has 3 bosses to defeat and mobs along the way! So what team do you need? Well your going to have to have very strong DPS (TR,CW,HR) , tank, DC(buff/debuff), SW temp for heal, GWF. Some groups have taken 2 DC's, one for heal, one for buff/debuff.  My opinion but the GWFs got needed in a whole different light this dungeon. It's not their DPS but their ability to stay alive that's more important. I've been several times and no matter how big TIL they were if they didn't have the stamina to stay alive they fell over like flies >.< Also the GF and Paladin must shield up when 10 stacks of your Thief of Vitae
have been reached or one hit equals death!
Also note that Stacks wear off when you use your "default shift" key (dodge/run/shield).  The first boss will bring you into a great court yard where you will be faced with the dreaded 3 sisters!

These 3 sisters witches are high in health and strength..one player will have to take the tome and occupy one while the other players attack the other two. The main idea is to get and keep them separate. It takes quite a bit of DPS but the sisters have their own little tricks..one..the cesspools will take down your health pretty fast..so when you see those on the ground, avoid them. You will want to make sure your sound is on and you will hear one of the sisters tell them to attack, this will send red chains around one of the sisters and one of your team. When you see chains, don't attack! All the DPS that is done while chains attacks the player, not the sister. After two are deceased, the last sister you attack will bring on tons of mobs. ..Once defeated your off to boss #2!

Wondering into a beautiful ballroom with couples dancing..music playing...and a Arcolith! Your second boss enters here and he's a big one..hes got some strong blows and more cesspools...but he only goes for so long until he goes into a hateful swirl. During this time he's totally immune and you should hide behind the pillars. The tank will take the aggro here and have the boss knock down these pillars one at a time. You need extreme DPS with DC's buff/debuff. This boss is done with the trick of time..you only have 4 spins to kill this monster before he spins out of control and no one walks away! On to Strahd von Zarovich!

Strahd von Zarovich is one unhappy man by the time you reach this end..you will regain the sword here with it's special encounters, each player has to pick up the sword and release it back onto the ground by pressing the tab key after which the preferred holder is the tank..entering in its very important to stick together along side the wall and let him come to you when attacking..between there will be a curse and one player will be taken to another room to defend for themselves, while this is happening there are 4 enemies along the walls to kill, when dead your teammate will return...they must stay alive in the other room as well where there is a mob waiting for them. Strahd von Zarovich will come to you along the wall, attack..he has a fairly large health line so it takes awhile...at the end this floor like object will appear and the character with the sword has to go out to the middle and use the sword to break it. The boss has long immunity phases, which makes timing buffs and DPSing really difficult.  Once defeated Castle Ravenloft features two end chests, one that can be opened with the normal chest keys and one that requires a new key from a corresponding campaign task. The dungeon introduces a new type of seal, the Seal of the Crown. It’s used to buy item level 550 armor sets. All bosses, drop ten seals each and both chests 20 each. The end chests additionally feature Seals of the Brave, pieces of Legacy Transmute Gear and Refining Points. In terms of rewards it’s worth noting that the dungeon can drop shards of a new Prominence Enchantment. These shards have been selling for a pretty good price on the AH.

Now for a bunch of my personal opinions, I totally love the new area..it's laid out nicely and you can tell its new content not just a repeated repainted landscape..first time there i got hit by a Night Terror and freaked out. The aspect of the tarot cards adds some excitement to the game as to where if you collect them all you earn a special artifact. Also note there's the new Sun artifact set which looks nice. I am wondering why though only 5% increase in damage where there is 10% with primal so not really sure if that is BIS, guess it depends on what you need for your character.  Castle Ravenloft is amazing. The details of the new castle and the surrounding land is truly a piece of artwork. Sometimes when you go in the gate will not open and I've heard alot say it's a bug but I've also read that you are not always invited in and may be a magical spell to get you across..this I have to look into and will update if I find out ^_^ I have posted a youtube video with a very fast 30 CR run below. I hope you've enjoyed this blog and if have any comments or further helpful ideas post them below, happy hunting!

  • The Glorious Resurgence Lockbox returns this Tuesday, June 12 until Ravenloft goes live on June 26!  The return of the Glorious Resurgence Lockbox means that the Soulmonger’s Lockbox will no longer be available starting June 12!

Wow a lot of stuff there but one last thought before I close..this coming June 21st begins 2x guild marks! We are always stacking up those marks and wondering how to spend them..well here's a suggestion to earn you some extra AD..use your guild marks and buy scrolls at the vendor in the stronghold..of course the bigger scrolls are more rare elements. Use these scrolls during 2x professions xp and resources which begins July 12..with our guild boon (make sure you have it selected!) you will get double to that! Selling these elements should bring you some good AD..a little research before you pick your scroll is best so you know what is selling the highest!

Soon Ravenloft will be coming! I will be doing a special blog on that in the future..I have to say I've been on the preview server and am very impressed and love the new content!

But until then happy hunting KOE!!
